Lionsgate has picked up the overseas TV rights to the Spanish-language function movie Belleza, which stars Mexican singer and actress Maite Perroni.
The deal for the abroad cable and streaming rights to Belleza past the U.S. market was achieved with Paul Presburger’s Miercoles Leisure, which has a movie slate cope with Lionsgate and is part of the consortium behind the Hollywood studio’s longstanding Pantelion and Pantaya ventures.
“Lionsgate is a longstanding, exceptional partner with global distribution prowess and bespoke relationships across the television landscape. We’re thrilled to continue that relationship with Miercoles and to launch our slate with Belleza, a film with a powerful local voice and an outstanding cast led by Maite Perroni,” Presburger stated in a press release.
Presburger and Lionsgate are behind Pantelion Movies, the former Lionsgate/Televisa three way partnership centered on Spanish-language movies, the streaming platform Pantaya, and the worldwide IP consortium Globalgate. Belleza, a female-driven multigenerational drama and comedy, is produced by BH5 Studios and Miercoles as a co-production with Secuoya Studios.
Perroni had a breakout position within the 2004 Mexican telenovela Rebelde, which was adopted by the launch of her rock group RBD and streaming TV sequence roles in Netflix’s Darkish Need and Triada (Triptych). Belleza additionally stars Fernanda Castillo, Claudette Maille, Diego Klein, Arap Bethke, Antonia Giraldo, Johanna Murillo, Sabina Furuzawa, Sebastian García Huerta, Monica Dionne and Arturo Ríos.
The distribution settlement will see Lionsgate deal with gross sales for Belleza throughout overseas SVOD, AVOD, cable and FAST providers and the studio’s personal international channels. Cinepolis will launch Belleza, which was shot in Colombia, theatrically in Mexico.
