The reunion we’ve all been ready for is lastly official: the “Romy and Michele” sequel, starring Oscar winner Mira Sorvino and Emmy winner Lisa Kudrow, is now in manufacturing.
The 1997 cult traditional comedy “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion” starred Sorvino and Kudrow as two unsuccessful 28-year-olds who invent pretend careers to impress their former classmates at their 10-year highschool reunion. Within the many years since, the actors have fielded questions on a follow-up film, till final yr, when it was reported that they have been in final talks to star in a sequel film, directed and produced by Tim Federle (“High School Musical: The Musical: The Series”) and written by Robin Schiff, who created the characters and penned the unique 1997 movie.
That challenge is now formally a go, with the twentieth Century Studios movie to stream completely as a Hulu Unique on Hulu. The movie shall be accessible through Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers within the U.S., and on Disney+ internationally.
Along with Sorvino and Kurdrow, coming back from the unique film are Janeane Garofalo (as Heather), Alan Cumming (Sandy Frink), Camryn Manheim (Toby), and Julia Campbell (Christie).
Becoming a member of the forged are Keegan-Michael Key (“The Super Mario Galaxy Movie,” “Only Murders in the Building”), Rob Huebel (“Five Star Weekend,” “Running Point”), Breckin Meyer (“Road Trip,” “Clueless”), Patrick Warburton (“Bee Movie”), and Nathan Lee Graham (“Mid-Century Modern,” “Theater Camp”). The brand new characters’ roles are being saved below wraps.
Producer Laurence Mark returns for the sequel, as does govt producer Barry Kemp. Sorvino, Kudrow, and Schiff will even govt produce. Kimberly McCullough serves as co-producer. Sarah Shepard is overseeing the challenge for twentieth Century Studios. The artistic group consists of director of images Marco Fargnoli, manufacturing designer Hillary Gurtler, returning costume designer Mona Might and editor Brian Olds.
