London-based gross sales and influence outfit Together Films has picked up worldwide rights to the Swedish love drama “Lisa & Lilly,” produced by Fifth Season’s Scandi manufacturing powerhouse Nordic Drama Queens.

“The story of Lisa and Lilly affects us strongly as the story about Romeo and Juliet, only this time, it is based on real people and events,” she underscored, earlier than including: “Until this day, the majority of LGBTQ+ films that are made are told from the perspective of gay men, ignoring the women who have played a large part in changing our history,” she added. “Since my first movie ‘Kiss Me,’ partly based on my own life, I have been seeking for the right project with an LGBTQ+ angle and this story has everything and more. The film about Lisa and Lilly will be as relevant tomorrow as it will be in 100 years.”
Lindström added. “It’s an important and beautiful love story about the right to love, whoever you want. About love in life and death.”

It’s a true story; two young women in 1910s Stockholm who chose love when their love was considered a crime, and paid the ultimate price. Director Julia Lindström has found a way to make this feel viscerally present: the visual language is bold, intimate, and contemporary. Think the emotional heat of ‘Euphoria’ alongside the period beauty of ‘Portrait of a Lady on Fire!’”
“At a moment when homophobia is rising globally and the rights so many of us take for granted are being openly challenged, this film is a reminder of what’s at stake: that young love, in all its intensity and vulnerability, should be equal for everyone. We are honored to be bringing it to international audiences,” she added.
The €4 million ($4.7 million) mission is being co-produced by Estonia’s Allfilm, Swedish pubcaster SVT, Movie Stockholm, Scanbox Leisure, in collaboration with Norway’s Motlys, Finland’s Bardy Studios, DR and Yle, with assist from the Swedish Movie Institute, Nordisk Movie & TV Fond, and Artistic Europe MEDIA, which offered growth coin.
The six-week shoot between Stockholm, Sweden and Tallinn, Estonia is because of start mid-August, with an area launch by way of Scanbox Leisure penciled for the autumn 2027.
