Supergirl has begun its box office run. Director Craig Gillespie’s DC Studios superhero film kicked issues off with a $7.8 million begin from Thursday previews.

The Warner Bros. title follows final summer time’s Superman and stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, the cousin of the Man of Metal.

After a cameo in 2025’s Superman, Alcock returns as Supergirl for the second big-screen function within the DC slate cooked up by bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Evaluations have been mixed, with The Hollywood Reporter’s chief movie critic David Rooney deeming it an “uninspired slog,” though praising “Milly Alcock’s hard-edged performance making her an appealingly punky protagonist.”

After starring as Aquaman for the earlier DC regime, Jason Momoa joins Alcock as comics dangerous boy Lobo. Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham spherical out the solid, whereas David Corenswet reprises his function as Superman.

Additionally opening this weekend is Paramount‘s Jackass: Best and Last, which collected $1.2 million from Thursday previews. Director Jeff Tremaine’s fifth function within the ribald Johnny Knoxville-led franchise is eyeing $10 million domestically, with the advantage of a finances of simply $10 million.

Following 2022’s Jackass Endlessly, the most recent installment sees the return of Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius and the remainder of the pain-seeking cohorts.

Moreover, Scary Film from Paramount and Miramax crossed $100 million on the home field workplace on Thursday, changing into the primary R-rated comedy to hit the milestone since 2017’s Women Journey. Anna Faris, Regina Corridor, Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans lead the movie that has surpassed $200 million globally. The franchise that kicked off with 2000’s authentic Scary Film has now reached the $1 billion mark worldwide, because of the present sixth title within the sequence.

In his review of Jackass: Best and Last, THR critic Frank Scheck referred to as Knoxville an “appealing performer” and quipped, “If you’re nostalgic to once again see Steve-O strapped into a porta potty and slung into the air only to be covered in excrement, you’re in luck.”
