Worldwide gross sales outfit Pluto Movie has acquired comedy “Chica Checa,” which is making its world premiere on the upcoming Karlovy Vary Intl. Movie Competition.
Written and directed by Šimon Holý, “Chica Checa” explores a widow’s journey as she offers along with her son’s hidden identification as a drag queen. However each mom and son uncover that reinvention is feasible at any age.
Holý’s fourth function facilities on widow Zdena, a mail service in a small Czech village who leads a quiet life. When her beloved son Lukáš, who has moved to Paris, comes house to go to his dying grandmother, he comes out to his mom and says he makes his dwelling as a drag queen, Chica Checa (“Czech girl”), not as a financial institution worker. The movie is a Czech, Slovak and French co-production, produced by Janáčková (Silk Movie, Czech Republic),co-produced by Silvia Panáková (Arina Movie, Slovak Republic), Czech Tv and Frédéric Bellaiche and Alexis Dantec (French Connection, France). The movie obtained help from the Czech Audiovisual Fund, Slovak Audiovisual Fund, Île-de-France Area-Paris Area, Pilsen Area (CZ) and by the European Union by means of the Simply Transition Programme 2021–2027 and Subsequent Technology EU.
