The upcoming “Hello Kitty” film has discovered its administrators.
David Derrick Jr. (“Moana 2”) and John Aoshima (“Ultraman: Rising”) will helm the movie. Former president of Paramount Animation Ramsey Naito (“The Boss Baby”) will produce the movie alongside Beau Flynn.
Shelby Thomas is overseeing for FlynnPictureCo.
The film, which has spent several years in development, shall be distributed by Warner Bros. Photos Animation and New Line Cinema on July 21, 2028, and it marks Hi there Kitty’s” Hollywood theatrical debut. The movie will comply with Hi there Kitty and her pals on a cinematic journey designed to please audiences of all ages.
The present script is being penned by Jeff Chan with earlier drafts by Dana Fox, Katie Dippold, Adam Sztykiel, Jenny Jaffe, Lindsey Beer and Tamara Becher-Wilkinson (from a therapy by Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon).
Each administrators beforehand entered into general offers with Warner Bros. Photos Animation underneath Invoice Damaschke. Flynn spent almost a decade working with Sanrio founder Shintaro Tsuji to get rights to the character.
Japan’s Sanrio first launched the cute feline in 1974 and rapidly unleashed a merchandising juggernaut, with whole shops dedicated to hundreds of things branded with Hi there Kitty and her pals, reminiscent of Expensive Daniel and superhero alter ego Ichigoman. There’s a Hi there Kitty theme park in Japan, Hi there Kitty cafés, dozens of video video games and quite a few collaborations for high-end clothes and different adult-targeted merchandise. The English-language function mission was first announced by New Line in 2019, and was the primary time Sanrio had licensed movie rights to the traditional cat.
