Cercamon has picked up gross sales company duties on tragicomedy “Black Money for White Nights,” which has its world premiere on the Karlovy Vary Film Festival within the Crystal Globe Competitors.
The Bulgaria-Greece co-production is directed by Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov, and written by Grozeva, Valchanov and Decho Taralezhkov.
Marina, 65, a maternity nurse, and her husband Gosha, 68, a railway dispatcher, have spent years accumulating small bribes to afford their dream journey to St. Petersburg for the White Nights Competition. When Russia invades Ukraine and the journey company vanishes with their financial savings, their dream — and the phantasm of management — collapses. As Gosha leads to hospital, crushed whereas making an attempt to recuperate the cash, long-buried betrayals floor, forcing the couple to confront the lies their life was constructed on.
“Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov have created a bold and unsettling film, anchored in a sharp sense of place, character, and social tension, where the line between right and wrong becomes increasingly fragile. We have long admired their distinctive cinematic voice, and are proud to accompany this powerful new work as it begins its international journey,” Sebastien Chesneau at Cercamon mentioned.
Grozeva and Petar Valchanov mentioned, “Returning to Karlovy Fluctuate seven years after ‘The Father’ feels very particular to us, particularly as a result of we’re as soon as once more surrounded by the identical producers and shut collaborators from Graal Movies.
“We are also very happy that Cercamon will now become part of the journey of ‘Black Money for White Nights,’ as we believe this deeply personal tragicomedy about corruption and moral compromise will strongly resonate with audiences today.”
The producers are Konstantina Stavrianou, Irini Vougioukalou, Grozeva and Valchanov for Abraxas Movie, with co-producers Graal Movies, Bulgarian Nationwide Tv, Hellenic Broadcasting Company ERT and Greek Movie Heart. The movie is supported by Bulgarian Nationwide Movie Heart and Eurimages.
