Unbiased Movie Firm and Shudder have acquired Alex Goyette’s debut function “Breeder.”
The movie is about an eccentric poodle breeder who lures a broke faculty pupil to her distant ranch with a promise of analysis funding. As he quickly learns, there’s a catch.
“Breeder” stars Daniel Doheny, Dot Marie Jones, Maddie Phillips, and Tanaya Beatty. Goyette wrote the script along with directing the movie. The deal is for distribution rights within the U.S., Canada, U.Okay., Eire, Australia and New Zealand. The movie will world premiere on the Tribeca Competition on June 6, and may have a theatrical launch this fall.
“Independent Film Company and Shudder have always been a dream home for us,” stated Goyette. “We’re thrilled to partner with them to bring ‘Breeder’ to audiences following its world premiere at Tribeca. As conversations around eugenics continue to resurface, our film confronts those ideas through the eyes of a deranged poodle breeder.”
“‘Breeder’ is the kind of movie that makes you lean forward and ask, ‘How did they get away with this?’” stated Mark Ward of IFC Leisure Group. “It’s provocative and constantly surprises you just when you think you’ve figured it out. We knew the moment we saw it that audiences will be talking about it long after they leave the theater, and we can’t wait to shock audiences on the big screen later this year.”
“Breeder” is produced by Ian Begin, Byron Ashley, Brian Mitchell, Chris Wilkinson, and Okay. Asher Levin, and government produced by Jeremy Ross, Ronnie Exley, Steven Schneider, Ryan Marchant, and Tyson Name. The movie was financed by Rabbits Black and 4 J Movies. The deal was negotiated by Ward for Unbiased Movie Firm and Shudder with UTA on behalf of the filmmakers.
